Dependent Personality Disorder does not mean you fall in love with every single person who shows you a sign of affection. It doesn’t mean you stalk anyone, it doesn’t mean you manipulate people, it doesn’t mean you’re not a strong, intelligent, creative and perceptive person. It does mean that not having someone to show you how to do stupid, simple tasks or give you constant advice and reassurance can push you into panic attacks. It does mean that you become severely anxious and often out of your mind when you believe you are alone; being single, losing friends, all of this can trigger episodes of panic.That being said, DPD sufferers are often the first to move on quickly after a break up, and to find replacements for friends who have let them down because independence can be is scary as fuck.They can also be the best friends because they are constantly looking to make other people happy, often at the expense of their own comfort. I’m not a freak, I’m not a psychopath, I’m not going to make a shrine to you if you stick your dick in me, and for the first time since I’ve learnt about this condition and my diagnosis I am brave enough to let you all know. So there are the facts, I expect to be avoided by the entire male species after this, but part of going away was to reach self acceptance, and although I’m not there yet, this is my baby step.
